Blessed August

So yesterday we had a big storm blow through my little town. Lots of trees down and the electricity was down for about 10 hours or so. All in all it was an exciting evening. Main street was crawling with kids carrying flashlights taking over their small town in non-threatening gangs.
We have been getting plenty of powerful and quick storms here in the last couple weeks. It's really nice. That's one of the things I miss most about Missouri. They really know how to have a thunderstorm.
One more thing......
Visit your local farmer's market and enjoy the abundance of the season's harvest!

thank-you

Thank-you to the universe or Jesus or Allah or any deity with any responsibility whatsoever or to the web of life that pulses through all and connects and feeds us and kills us and eats us.
Thank-you for the opportunity to live in a time such as this. Thank-you for allowing me a large fertile plot of land and blessing it with a garden of impossible abundance. Thank-you for the prolific tomatoes and eggplant and peppers. Thank-you for the bees who pollinate. Thank-you for allowing me to live in a time when I can actually travel the entire world.....where I can live in the cold north and still taste the fruits of a much warmer south. Where I can choose between hundreds of fermentations of thousands of wine makers from all over the planet. Thank-you for lavishing on me the extravagance of luxury that few have ever known in this present moment and for all of human history. My parents and their peers did not know the opportunity that I do. My children may not know the peace or security or the pure indulgence that I know. Thank-you for letting me be even the poorest in this place at this moment in time. Thank-you for the love and life of my parents and my brother and for the friends I have and my mate. For him especially, thank-you.
For all the beauty of August in Michigan and for my health and ability to enjoy it.....thank-you.
And finally, and most important of all things, even more than love, thank-you for the clarity to appreciate. Without appreciation of all of this life, all is lost. With perspective of appreciation, I have all.
Thank-you
